“Globo” informs the participant, who decides to continue in the reality show; Tadeu breaks protocol and says he lost his brother
The lawyer and former federal deputy Gerardo Renault, father of the journalist and finalist of the “BBB 26” died in Belo Horizonte (MG) at the age of 96. Ana Paula’s family used the message on Sunday (April 19, 2026) to announce her death. Gerardo had been hospitalized since April 3rd. The cause of death was not disclosed.
A TV Globo decided to inform the participant of the reality show by calling her in the confessional, on Sunday night (April 19). She decided to continue on the program, which ends on Tuesday (21 April).
According to the statement, the family had chosen not to inform the participant of her death in order to comply with her father’s wishes. Ana Paula gained national recognition when participating in the .
“It was he who asked Ana to return. It was he who wanted to see her occupy this place again. And it is out of love, out of strength and out of respect for that desire that the family chose not to remove her from the program”declared the family.

Later, live on the reality show, presenter Tadeu Schmidt broke protocol and told participants about the death of his brother, former basketball player Oscar Schmidt. The athlete on Friday (April 17) at 68 years old.
“You know when we are suffering and we hold hands to become stronger? […] I am also experiencing grief, my brother died the day before yesterday”declared Tadeu.
“Just to say that I really respect anything you do. I really respect this moment you’re living in. And I wanted to tell you that we admire you so much and that it’s an honor to have you here with us”he added.
