The Social Fund of São Paulo delivers, next Monday (23), at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, 350 brand new vehicles to the Municipal Social Funds, in a ceremony that celebrates the institution’s 58th anniversary. The action is part of the second stage of the Equipping Program and represents an investment of R$36.2 million to expand service to municipal networks.

With this phase, the program now serves 550 municipalities in São Paulo. In the previous stage, 200 cities had already been covered, consolidating the initiative as one of the biggest strategies for strengthening state social assistance.

“Most of the people who need Social Funds are not in large centers. They are in rural areas or in communities far from the headquarters, where a car makes all the difference”, says the first lady and president of the Social Fund of São Paulo, Cristiane Freitas.

The vehicles, cargo models with a minimum capacity of 810 kilos, will be used to transport basic food baskets, blankets, clothes and other essential items. The measure speeds up the distribution of donations and expands the reach of actions, especially in areas that are difficult to access.

Delivery follows technical criteria, prioritizing smaller municipalities with a reduced operational structure, ensuring greater service to the population in vulnerable situations.

Created to strengthen municipal Social Funds, the Equipping Program seeks to improve social assistance actions, reinforce food security initiatives and support professional qualification projects, in addition to intensifying technical monitoring and integration with local administrations.
