The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira, participated this week in a hearing at the Foreign Relations and National Defense Committee of the Chamber of Deputies to clarify critical points in Brazilian foreign policy. During the meeting, the chancellor categorically denied the existence of Chinese military bases in Brazil and expressed strong concern about pressure from the United States government on the country’s internal security.

“There is no station, no antenna, no Chinese operation, no military partnership, nor any element that justifies the lessons described. We are talking about speculation derived from internet newswhose contents were decontextualized”, stated the chancellor.

Another central point of the hearing was the pressure from the management of terrorist organizations. This would allow American armed forces to come to Brazilian territory, invade Brazilian territory to exterminate terrorist groups”, warned Vieira.
