PL articulates neutral request to open CPI on BRB – 03/22/2026 – Panel

The PL decided to support the articulations around a request for a CPI in the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District that could attract support from the left and right to investigate Banco Master.

Despite that of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), no CPI request obtained the eight signatures required to be filed — much less the 13 to pass in front of two CPI requests related to other topics.

On the one hand, that proposed by PT, PSOL, PSB and PSDB, with seven signatures. On the other, PT, PSOL, PSB and PSDB refuse to sign the PL and PRD, with four signatories. District deputy Paula Belmonte (PSDB) also proposed the opening of a CPI, but was unable to get the signature of any of her colleagues.

District deputies from other parties view the PL movement with suspicion. The authorship of the request is coveted because it has historically guaranteed the nomination of the president or rapporteur. The matter should be discussed at a meeting between all parliamentarians on Tuesday (24).

At the beginning of the month, after the vote on the bill that hands over public properties in the Federal District to help the BRB.

The party is chaired in Brasília by federal deputy Bia Kicis (DF), a possible opponent of Ibaneis in the Senate race along with former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL), considered favorite for the first vacancy.

According to reports, Bia has already warned Michelle that the PL may also leave the platform of vice-governor Celina Leão (PP) to the Government of the Federal District, if her candidacy is contaminated by the rejection of Ibaneis and becomes uncompetitive.

Celina is Michelle’s friend. The two traveled together through Brazil in 2022 to ask for votes for former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) against Lula (PT), alongside former minister and senator Damares Alves (Republicanos-DF).
