The world of winter sports has been hit by extremely sad news. At the age of only 27, the talented Lithuanian biathlete and Olympian Linas Banys left forever. The news of his unexpected death was confirmed by the Lithuanian Biathlon Union and the Lithuanian National Olympic Committee, reports the portal.
Although the cause of death of the young athlete has not yet been officially disclosedthe news of his passing immediately sent a wave of grief among his colleagues, friends and fans around the world. He was one of the stable pillars of Lithuanian biathlon. His career peak experienced in 2022 when he proudly represented Lithuania at the Winter Olympics in Beijing.
The native of Anykščiai was known for his perseverance and team spirit, which he contributed especially in relay races at world events. In 2024, he decided to close his professional sports chapter and ended his active career. At that time, no one knew that his life’s journey would end so soon.
