The world of technology and digital content has been hit by sad news. Billionaire Leonid Radvinsky, owner of the popular OnlyFans platform, died at the age of 43. The company made the announcement in an official statement on Monday (March 23), saying that the cause of death was an oncological disease, writes the website.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce that Leo Radvinsky has left us. After a long and exhausting battle with cancer, he passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones,” a company spokesperson said, adding that the family is asking the public to respect their privacy during this difficult time.
The Ukrainian-American entrepreneur was not just the face of OnlyFans. He built his career on investments in technology – already in 2009 he founded the risk capital fund Leo, through which he supported innovative technology companies. The turning point in his career came in 2018, when he bought Fenix International Limited, which owns OnlyFans. Since then, he has served as its director and majority shareholder.
Although the platform was founded in 2016 by British entrepreneur Tim Stokely, it was Radvinsky who managed it during its greatest boom. Paradoxically, it came with the COVID-19 pandemic. Lockdowns have moved both creators and consumers into the online space and OnlyFans has become a worldwide mainstream revenue generation tool.
In recent months, the name of Leonid Radvinski has been mentioned mainly in connection with a huge business. Since the beginning of the year, the platform has been negotiating the sale of a majority stake to the investment group Architect Capital. The potential deal values the company at an astronomical $5.5 billion.
