Autonomous cargo transporters operating in the Port of Santos will halt activities for 24 hours from 8am this Wednesday (25th). The mobilization was called by Sindgran, which brings together truck drivers from Santos, Guarujá and Cubatão, and should gather around 5 thousand participants at the Cubatão Regulatory Yard.
The protest focuses on charging for the use of regulatory yards, required as a condition for access to port operations. The category contests the model and claims that the cost has directly impacted workers’ income.
According to the union, the amount charged can reach approximately R$800 for a period of 24 hours. For truck drivers, the expense compromises the viability of trips.
Sindgran’s assessment is that the responsibility for payment should fall on the port terminals, and not on the transporters. Regulatory yards function as truck flow control areas near ports and logistics centers. The objective is to avoid congestion on access roads and queues in urban areas.
In practice, vehicles wait in these locations until they are released to enter the terminals, according to the operations schedule.
The union informed that the strike will not block public roads and must take place in an organized manner within the yard in Cubatão. The intention is to push for changes in the charging model without completely interrupting traffic in the region.

Even with the limited nature of the strike, the concentration of trucks could affect the dynamics of operations at the Port of Santos throughout the day.
