O Public Ministry of Rio Grande do Sul reported a 60 year old doctor for two attempted intentional homicides in Presidente Lucena (RS), including an attack against his own brother. The body also works to ensure that five other cases of serial run-overs occurred in Novo Hamburgo are judged as attempted murder by the Jury Court.
According to the MPRS released this Thursday (26), the crimes occurred on March 3rd. According to the complaint, Before arriving at his brother’s house, the suspect ran over an elderly person. Once there, he allegedly tried to kill his family member with a club. The two victims are elderly, which makes the accusations worse.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office also requested the opening of an incident of mental insanity, which has already been authorized by the Court, in addition to requesting the adoption of administrative measures, such as possible suspension of professional practice.
According to investigations, moments before the cases in Presidente Lucena, the doctor had already run over other people while traveling in Novo Hamburgo. Witnesses reported that he intentionally changed the direction of the vehicle to hit pedestrians.
In total, there were six victims who were run over. In one of the cases, a person was walking with a baby on their lap and another was hit, suffering injuries to the leg.
The Public Ministry understands that there is evidence that the acts were deliberate, based on statements, images and the legal classification adopted by the police.
At the moment, Paulo Adriano is detained by the courts. The arrest in flagrante delicto was converted into preventive arrest.
