Löwen (Leuven) – Austria’s U21 footballers had to give up the lead in qualifying group I for the 2027 European Championship on Friday. In Belgium, coach Peter Perchtold’s team suffered a last-minute defeat at 0-1 (0-0) thanks to a goal from Arthur Vermeeren (88th), thanks to which the home team took the lead by three points each ahead of Denmark and Austria. With three games to go, the fixed ticket, which is bought by the group winners and the best runner-up in the group, is in danger of being shaken.
