A missile launched early Saturday against Israel, according to the country’s Army, brings Yemen into the scene of the regional conflict, hours after the Houthis, who control a large part of its territory, threatened to go on the offensive in support of Iran.
Just one month after the start of the war, launched by the United States and Israel against Tehran, US President Donald Trump said he felt “disappointed” by NATO and its lack of support for White House operations in the Middle East.
Is Yemen joining the conflict?
– The Israel Defense Forces claimed to have detected a missile launched towards its territory from Yemen, the first sent from this country in the context of the recent conflict.
– Hours earlier, the Houthis, allies of Iran who control much of Yemen, including the capital Sanaa, had threatened to get involved in the war if new actors joined the United States and Israel in their offensive, or if the Red Sea was used to attack Iran.
– The group’s military spokesman, Yahya Sarea, said Houthi forces have “their hands on the trigger.”
– During the war in Gaza, the Houthis launched more than 1,800 attacks against Israel in support of Palestine, according to figures provided by Yemeni insurgents.
