The PSOL (Partido Socialismo e Liberdade) approved the affiliation of the historian and Jones Manoel. He will run for a place as federal deputy for Pernambuco in the 2026 elections. The party’s national executive confirmed the decision this Friday (28.mar.2026).

Federal deputy Sâmia Bomfim (PSOL-SP) celebrated Jones’ arrival to the party in a publication on her website. It’s excellent news! I was enthusiastic about this idea from the beginning, and I believe that this candidacy will strengthen the struggle of the Brazilian left, the dialogue with the new generations and the fight against the extreme right,” he said..

The historian, who has more than 2 million followers, accepted the conditions presented by the party to enter the party. The alignment between the parties on the established terms allowed approval by the national executive.

Among the agreed demands are support for Lula’s (PT) candidacy since the 1st round and alignment with PSOL’s electoral tactics. The agreement also provides for the preservation of public figures and the image of the caption.

The president of PSOL, Paula Coradi, intends to elect the largest federal bench in the history of the party. The party expects the historian to be the 1º federal deputy elected by the party in the Northeast.

In Pernambuco, PSOL also has Ivan Moraes as a pre-candidate for the state government.
