Trump calls the Strait of Hormuz “Trump’s Strait”. It wasn't a mistake

Donald Trump, President of the USA

Iran allowed oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz to “compensate for its erroneous statement.”

The exchange of different perspectives continues between Donald Trump and representatives of Iran about the negotiations towards peace in the Middle Eastern country.

On Monday, the US president said negotiations with Iran – which he said were ongoing – were taking place with a “respected Iranian politician”, whose identity he did not reveal.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry quickly denied any contact with the White House. According to the Iranian press, Donald Trump’s statement aimed only to “reduce energy prices”.

This Friday, Trump repeated that there are contacts with Iran, more precisely with the regime of Iranian Shiite clerics. “They are negotiating.”

In fact, according to Donald Trump, the Iranians “are begging to make a deal“, he claimed in a speech in Florida.

The White House leader said that Iran allowed oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz to “compensate for its wrong statement” – precisely when Tehran denied negotiations.

While reinforcing that the Strait of Hormuz must open again to international navigation, Donald Trump referred to the Strait of Hormuz as the “Strait of Trump”.

“They have to open, they have to open the Trump Strait. I mean, Hormuz. Sorry, I apologize. What a terrible mistake”, he declared, with a tone of irony.

Soon after, he showed that he had not been mistaken in his speech: “Fake news will say ‘he said it accidentally’. No, There are no accidents with me. At least not many.”

Closed to the “enemy”

Meanwhile, also on Friday, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard forced three container ships to return to the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the Iranians, the strait is closed for ships going to or coming from “enemy”.

“The passage of any ship from or to ports belonging to allies and supporters of American-Zionist enemies is prohibited,” declared Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.

It is not known who owns the three ships.
