See the moment when a plane’s turbine explodes during takeoff in Guarulhos

A Delta Air Lines plane The turbine failed during takeoff at São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airporton Sunday night (29). The aircraft had to return to the airport after the incident. According to Civil Defense, there were no injuries reported.

Flight DL 104, operated by an Airbus A330-323, was destined for the city of Atlanta. According to records, takeoff occurred at around 10:49 pm, but shortly after, the crew was alerted to a problem with the aircraft’s wing.

Images recorded by a specialized aviation channel show the moment when the catches fire shortly after takeoff. With the explosion, burning fragments detached from the aircraft and fell into the airport area, causing a fire to start on the lawn. See images:

In the audio recording, it is possible to hear the control tower warning the pilots about the presence of “fire on the wing”. Given the situation, the aircraft carried out and returned to the airport of origin for a forced landing.

The safety of our customers and crew is our highest priority. We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel.
