The authorities accused a man of abominable exploitation of his own wife: He sold her for sex to 120 interested parties

A man who is suspected of selling his wife’s sexual services to more than 120 men was charged on Monday in Sweden with pimping with aggravating circumstances, multiple rapes and assault. This was reported by the AFP agency, writes TASR. The 62-year-old man was arrested in late October 2025 after his wife reported him to the police. He has been in custody since then.

According to the indictment, the man profited for years from the fact that on the Internet posted ads and organized meetings with people interested in sex, pressuring his wife to perform sexual acts also online in order to attract more clients. The indictment called this action “reckless exploitation.” She added that the man was abusing the woman’s drug addiction.

Prosecutor Ida Annerstedtová told AFP in February that authorities have identified approximately 120 persons suspected of purchasing sexual services offered by this man. In addition to serious exploitation, the man is accused of eight rapes, one of which was supposed to take place during a meeting with a client, four attempted rapes and four assaults on his own wife.

The prosecutor described the victim as a woman in a vulnerable situation, which “to some extent consented to the practice of prostitution”. However, she objected to intercourse with certain people or under certain circumstances.

“She set certain boundaries. When he did not respect them, when he forced himself on her despite her refusal, it is in these situations that he is charged with attempted rape or rape,” explained prosecutor Annerstedtová. The incidents allegedly occurred between August 11, 2022 and October 21, 2025.

Sweden’s prostitution law prohibits the purchase of sexual services, but not their sale. In Sweden, it is also illegal to facilitate the sale of sexual services. The prosecutor specified that 26 men have been accused of buying sexual services so far, the others are still under investigation.

According to Swedish public television, Sveriges Television, he is accused by a high-ranking member of the Hells Angels biker group. His trial is scheduled to begin on April 13. Sweden’s Gender Equality Minister Nina Larsson said in February that men must “stop buying and selling women’s bodies”.

Swedish media they compare this case to the Dominiqua Pelicot case in France, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in December 2024 for having in the years 2011-20 he drugged his wife Gisele with drugs and subsequently raped her – unconscious – while allowing other men to do the same. The French parliament later approved an amendment to the criminal code based on this case, which defines rape as any sexual act without consent.
