“I understand that President Trump recently said he would like to end the war. I hope he’s looking for a way out … I hope he’s trying to reduce the violence and the bombing,” the pope told reporters as he left his residence in the town of Castel Gandolfo on his way back to the Vatican.
“I will continue to call on all world leaders to return to negotiations and seek solutions to the problems,” said the Pope. The coming Easter “should be the holiest and most sacred time of the year,” Lev said. “It is a time of peace, a time of deep reflection, but as we all know, in many places in the world we see again a lot of suffering, so much death, even innocent children,” he added. “We constantly call for peace, but unfortunately many people want to spread hatred, violence and war,” concluded.
