Fuzeta hosts the first Folar de Polvo Festival in Portugal [vídeo]

The town of Fuzeta, in the municipality of Olhão, is preparing to host, on the 4th and 5th of April, POLVA 2026 – Festival do Folar de Polvo da Fuzeta, an unprecedented event in Portugal dedicated to this gastronomic specialty.

The initiative aims to affirm the region as a reference destination, promoting a product that combines tradition and innovation.

New gastronomic product enhances the Ria Formosa

At the center of the event is Folar de Polvo com Salicórnia, a creation that combines local ingredients and regional identity.

The organization highlights the uniqueness of this proposal, saying that “a new flavor is born in the Algarve… and promises to conquer the country.”

This concept is based on the use of fresh octopus from the Ria Formosa and wild salicornia, known as “plant sea salt”, resulting in a distinct gastronomic experience.

Event gains national projection

Before the festival takes place, the event is already beginning to gain national visibility, with a live broadcast of the program Portugal Livefrom Antena 1, on April 2nd, from the headquarters of the KlubeSol Association, in the village of Marim.

Music, tradition and community highlighted

In addition to the gastronomic component, the festival includes a diverse program, with live music, crafts, activities for different ages and moments of entertainment along the Ria Formosa.

The event includes performances by Beira Mar, DJ Joni and Toi Picoito, as well as sporting and cultural initiatives over the two days.

Valuing the territory and local identity

POLVA 2026 aims to promote the territory, culture and products of the Ria Formosa, reinforcing the connection between the community and its roots.

The initiative is organized by , an entity with more than two decades of intervention in the social, cultural and community areas.
