Moraes responds to the PM’s request and expands restrictions on drones – 04/02/2026 – Brasília Hoje

The minister, from the (Supreme Federal Court), ordered the expansion of the radius prohibiting drone overflights around the residence where the former president is under house arrest.

Initially set at 100 meters, the restriction perimeter was expanded to 1 km.

The change responds to a request from the Command of the 19th Battalion, based on a technical analysis of the Operational Aviation Battalion.

According to the report, the previous limit of 100 meters was inadequate due to the technological advances of these aircraft, which allow the capture of high-resolution images and data at much greater distances.

The Military Police warned that the reduced limitation did not mitigate risks such as undue monitoring and the collection of sensitive information, compromising institutional security.

Bolsonaro was sentenced to a sentence of 27 years and 3 months in an initial closed regime. However, since March 24, he has been under temporary humanitarian house arrest to recover from bronchopneumonia.

Surveillance in the region where he is serving his sentence was reinforced after unauthorized flights were recorded over the property, which led the battalion to employ its own drones to identify the operating points of irregular devices.

The new decision maintains strict guidelines for those who violate the new limit. The Military Police have authorization to shoot down and immediately seize drones. Identified operators must be arrested red-handed.
