The pre-candidate for the Presidency of the PSD, former governor of Goiás, minimized the arrival of parliamentarians more aligned with President Lula (PT) to his party and stated that his platform in the Northeast during the campaign “will surprise”.

The Northeasterners have already lent their prestige to the current president, but they have become enslaved by criminal factions and corruption”, stated the pre-candidate.
In the region, names from the center tend to stick with Lula due to the PT member’s popularity. It is expected that the change in the bench’s profile will increase internal resistance to the former governor’s name and that the PSD’s northeastern leaders will campaign for the current president.
Caiado also stated that the president’s popularity is in “free fall” in the region, which would favor alliances with his supporters.
“I’m sure I’m going to burst this bubble. I’m not a candidate for swearing, nor for likes and polarization. I’m a politician with results. I’m only certain: I’m going to the second round, beating Lula and governing Brazil,” he declared.
