During the non-parliamentary debateon March 25, CDS-PP deputy, Paulo Núncio, accused the PCP of presenting an “illegal” measure that is contrary to European law: the total exemption from VAT for bottled gas. Did the party really propose this measure? SIC Verifies.
“It’s completely illegal”: this is how the CDS-PP deputy, Paulo Nunciocriticized the PCP’s supposed proposal to completely exempt cylinder gas from VAT.
“Let’s go to the second proposal what presented: exemption from ICMS on gas cylinders. But let me tell you one thing, Mr Deputy Speaker, that measure and completely illegal. Violates the VAT directive. Guitar right European”, accused Paulo Núncio (watch from 1:43:25 of the video below).
Logo not second below, Paulo Raimundo did not forgive and shot several times: “That’s not true.”
Is this measurement true?
Contrary to what the CDS deputy stated, There is no record of a proposed exemption VAT for bottled gas by the PCP Parliamentary Group to address the price increase that occurred after the start of the war in Iran.
More recently, before the conflict between Iran and the US-Israel alliance, the communist caucus turned to setting maximum prices, suggesting that each cylinder should not cost more than 20 euros. The proposal, highlighted by Paulo Raimundo at the opening of the debate, it ended up being rejected in Parliament on January 23rd.
SIC verifies that it is…
The declaration of Paulo Nuncio is false. The deputy stated that the PCdoB proposed a “zero VAT” for bottled gas, but this measure was never presented by the party.
