A national director of the Sustainability Network stated this Tuesday (8) that he received with “indignation and perplexity” the decision of the former Minister of the Environment, Marina Silvawhich announced last Saturday (4) its permanence in the party.
In a note, the party accused Marina of refusing to dialogue with the directory and denied having considered his departure. “Indignation because the former minister refuses to dialogue with the party leadership. Perplexity because at no point did the party question her membership or suggest her withdrawal,” he stated.
In the statement, the party, led by Paulo Lamac, highlighted that it “has no owner” and that it was built to live with divergences, without submission to individual wishes. The caption also recalled episodes of internal tension, citing positions defended by Marina in the past.
“This was the case in moments of strong internal tension, including when Marina defended uncomfortable positions for part of the party, such as supporting Aécio Neves in 2014, defending impeachment and agreeing with federal intervention in Rio de Janeiro. Even in the face of this political turn (…), there was never any sanction, censorship or persecution”, says the note.
The management also refuted accusations of authoritarianism and criticized the actions of the group linked to the former minister. “Not meeting a leadership’s personal wishes is not authoritarianism. It is a commitment to internal democratic life”, he stated.
According to the text, there was no expulsion of members and the recent departures were not due to persecution. The party also classified the judicialization promoted by Marina’s allies as “lawfare” and stated that the current leadership remains recognized.
Finally, the Network reaffirmed its political and support for candidacies aligned with the progressive field. “We remain firm in supporting Lula’s re-election, in defending Haddad’s victory in São Paulo and in our commitment to democracy, social justice, the fight against the climate crisis and national sovereignty.”
The acronym concluded that decisions on support and applications will be made internally, with dialogue, but “without external interference”.

Marina Silva eyes seat in the Senate for SP
The former Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, decided stay in the Sustainability Network and make your name available for run for the Senate in São Paulo.
Considered to join the PT, the environmentalist announced on Saturday that she would remain in the party and indicated that she intends to run for the second place in the ticket headed by Fernando Haddad to the state government. The first vacancy is already occupied by Simone Tebet, currently affiliated with the PSB.
“I make my name available for debate within our political field to represent the Federation led by PSOL, in the second vacancy for the Senate, alongside Simone Tebet”, he stated in a statement.
Former Minister of the Environment also highlighted the commitment to building a broad alliance in the progressive field. “This decision reaffirms the commitment to building a plural, diverse democratic field dedicated to creating a new cycle of prosperity,” he wrote.
