Hegseth also said Iran will have to hand over its stockpile of highly enriched uranium or the United States will ‘take’ it
US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said this Wednesday (8) that the United States had a decisive military victory over Iran and that Tehran’s missile program has been functionally destroyed.
Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, spoke to reporters a day after President Donald Trump was two hours shy of the deadline he had set for Tehran to open the blockaded Strait of Hormuz.
Caine said US military objectives in Iran have been achieved, but the ceasefire is a pause and the forces remain ready to resume combat.
Enriched uranium
Iran will have to hand over its stockpile of highly enriched uranium or the United States will “take it away,” Hegseth saidwithout clarifying how this would be done.
Hegseth stated that the United States monitors the Iranian stockpile and suggested that another bombing, similar to that carried out against suspected nuclear sites in June last year, could take place.
“We are watching. We know what they have, and they will deliver, and we will take it. If we have to, we will do it by any means necessary,” Hegseth said.
