Bolsonaro evolves in a ‘satisfactory way’, with ‘discreet improvement’, doctor tells the STF

Former President Jair Bolsonaro’s health condition has evolved in a “satisfactory manner”, with “discreet improvement”, informed the former Chief Executive’s doctor, Brasil Caiado, in a report sent to the Federal Supreme Court. According to the cardiologist, Bolsonaro’s blood pressure is under control, but he still complains of fatigue and tiredness, as well as “imbalance”.

The information is contained in a report that Bolsonaro’s defense sent to Minister Alexandre de Moraes in compliance with the rules of house arrest for the former head of the Executive. Also according to the document, last week Bolsonaro had only one episode of short-term hiccups.

The rapporteur of the criminal case in which the former president was convicted authorized the humanitarian home stay until Bolsonaro fully recovers from bronchopneumonia. The measure is valid for 90 days, counting from the 24th. At the end of this period, Moraes will decide whether Bolsonaro will remain at home or return to serve his sentence in Papudinha.

Still according to his doctor, Bolsonaro has “rigorously” followed the physiotherapy protocol three times a week and cardiorespiratory rehabilitation six times a week. He also began doing lower-body strength exercises to reduce the risk of falls.

“On physical examination, he presented altered lung auscultation, with very reduced vesicular sounds at the base of the left lung and normal sounds on the right,” Caiado also noted.

According to the doctor, Bolsonaro received a visit this week from an orthopedist, who prescribed painkillers for pain in the former president’s right shoulder. The defense has already told the STF that there is an indication for the former president to undergo surgery there.

The physiotherapist’s report was also presented to the STF, which reported that Bolsonaro does exercises to activate his dorsal muscles to gain strength “in the pre-operative period”. The physiotherapist has applied laser therapy interventions to the former president’s shoulder, as well as needling and myofascial release techniques.
