A United States Court of Appeals ruled this Saturday (11) that the construction of a new White House ballroom planned by President Donald Trump can continue until at least April 17.
A lower court had issued an injunction on March 31 to halt construction of the , but also suspended that injunction to allow for an appeal.
The $400 million is expected to replace the demolished East Wing with a ballroom that Trump called a definitive addition to the White House and an enduring symbol of his presidency.
The National Trust for Historic Preservation filed suit in December, arguing that Trump exceeded his authority by demolishing the historic East Wing — originally built in 1902 during Theodore Roosevelt’s presidency and expanded in 1942 — without congressional authorization.
