Fico without Orbán will be just a shadow of himself. After the possible end of the Orbán era, it will be extremely important for Slovakia that its strategic partners do not have the opportunity to influence political events. If they were to receive it, there is a real risk that they would again side with Fico at crucial moments.
Will PS help Orbán’s propaganda survive?
The question is therefore whether Progresívne Slovensko, Michal Šimečka and spol. they will help save Orbán’s strategic partner in Slovakia. Will they help Orbán’s propaganda survive and influence further events in Slovakia? Until the last moment, the entire leadership of the Hungarian Alliance was very intensively involved in the campaign in Hungary on the side of Fidesz.
The attitude of the other opposition is also a question. At the same time, there is also a Hungarian political alternative in Slovakia, which has never been sold to Fico or Moscow. Will the democratic Slovak political scene help restore Hungarian political representation in Slovakia without Orbán’s influence?
If the era of Orbán is ending in Hungary, the era of his political influence in Slovakia should also end. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a change in the elections in Hungary. Change there can help change here as well. Both Slovakia and Hungary deserve to belong to democratic, developed Europe – not to the Russian sphere of influence.
