The president of the United States, Donald Trumpannounced this Sunday that it has ordered the US Navy to begin a perimeter closure of the Strait of Hormuznow under the control of Iran, and has warned that will intercept “in international waters” any ship that has paid Iran to cross this strategic step.
“Effective immediately the United States Navy (…) will begin the process to block each and every ship who try to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump said in a message posted on social media in his first reaction to the failure of this Saturday’s talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad (Pakistan). Trump has criticized the “global extortion” imposed by the Iranian authorities with the closure of Hormuz and has warned that American warships “will search and intercept any ship in international waters that has paid a fee to Iran.”
Likewise, Trump has explained that they are going to begin the demining process in this strategic step and has warned that “any Iranian who shoots at us or peaceful vessels will be blown to pieces.”
