Social Security will change the way you access its online portal and there is a preliminary step that can avoid embarrassment from May onwards. The introduction of two-factor authentication forces users to ensure that their contacts are up to date, otherwise they will be blocked from entering Pension Direct.
According to the website, the measure comes into force on May 12th and is valid for all users who access with NISS and password. From that date onwards, it will be necessary to enter a temporary code sent to the cell phone, thus reinforcing security in accessing personal data.
Access now depends on code sent by cell phone
Two-factor authentication, also known as 2FA, becomes mandatory in this digital service. In practice, in addition to the usual credentials, the user will have to validate entry with a unique code received via SMS. This mechanism is already used in several digital services and aims to reduce the risk of improper access.
The critical point is in the registered contacts. If the cell phone number is outdated or incorrect, the code will not be received, making access impossible. That is why updating this data is now urgent.
There is, however, an alternative. Anyone using the Digital Mobile Key will not be affected by this change, as this method already integrates a reinforced authentication system. In these cases, the process remains unchanged.
How to update data on the portal
Updating contacts must be done directly at Previdência Direta. The procedure begins with authentication via NISS and password. After logging in, the user must access the profile area, select personal data and check the registered contacts.
If necessary, you can change both your email address and your cell phone number. After updating, the new data must be validated to ensure it is correctly linked to the account.
The recommendation is simple but decisive. Confirming these elements before the new system comes into force can avoid blocking access to an essential service. According to the same source, Social Security has already started to alert users to this change, highlighting the importance of anticipating the process and avoiding embarrassment from mid-May onwards.
