It is important that the future of the armed forces, as in the guest commentary by Gerhard Strejcek (A professional army would be the better choice, THE STANDARD, 8.4.2026) is debated. However, central questions of Austrian security policy and, above all, the constitutional mandate to protect our population and defend Austria’s sovereignty cannot be resolved with business logic!
