O judgment by Brendon Alexander Luz da Silva, known as Tota, identified as one of those responsible for the the assassination of Moïse Kabagambe, will be held on Wednesday (15), at the 1st Jury Court of the Capital, in the center of Rio de Janeiro, starting at 11am.
The Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro is responsible for taking the case to . The crime occurred on January 24, 2022, in a kiosk on Praia da Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of the city.
Brendon is the last of the three accused executioners to stand trial. In March 2025, the other two defendants, Fábio Pirineus da Silva and Aleson Cristiano de Oliveira Fonseca, were sentenced to 44 years in prison, under a closed regime.
According to the complaint, they show that Brendon directly participated in the attacks. He also appears in one of the most repercussion moments of the case, alongside another accused, posing for a photo with the victim already immobilized on the ground.
The recordings indicate that the three defendants beat Moïse with a baseball bat, in addition to punching, kicking and slapping, for around 13 minutes. The victim was knocked down, tied up and left without the possibility of defense during the attack.
In the trial of the other two involved, the Sentencing Council recognized that the crime was committed for a trivial reason, with extreme cruelty and with no chance of defense for the victim.
The three arrested attackers denied that they intended to kill Moïse and accuse him of having tried to take drinks from the kiosk’s freezer without the employees’ consent. THE CNN Brazil had access to images from the kiosk’s internal monitoring circuit at the time. They show that Moïse suffered at least 30 blows.
