He is considered a fugitive from Brazilian justice. Ramagem was sentenced to 16 years in prison for an attempted coup d’état by the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
Ramagem’s mandate was revoked on December 18, the same day that the Chamber of Deputies also declared the loss of the mandate of Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), son of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
The former federal deputy was convicted of participation in the coup attempt to reverse the result of the 2022 elections. After his conviction, he left the country and fled to the USA in September.
At the end of January, the Ministry of Justice and Public Security informed the STF that the former federal deputy’s extradition request was delivered to the United States government on December 30, 2025.
