Glauce Anselmo Cavalli, colonel of the Military Police of São Paulo, was appointed by governor Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) to assume general command of the corporation. For the first time in almost two centuries of existence, the PM will be headed by a woman. The appointment was published in the edition of Official State Gazette this Thursday, 16th.
The officer has a master’s and doctorate in Police Security and Public Order Sciences. She has a degree in Law from Universidade Cruzeiro do Sul and in Physical Education from the PM School of Physical Education.
Before his appointment, Glauce served as the corporation’s Logistics Director. Throughout his career, he also commanded the CPA/M-2, responsible for one of the most populous regions of the capital of São Paulo, in addition to heading the Legal Affairs Coordination of the General Command and the Military Police Social Communication Center.
“Colonel Glauce has built a solid career in the Military Police, with excellent training, recognized leadership and extensive experience in operational, strategic and management roles. She stood out since her training and continued to accumulate responsibilities throughout her career, always with a high technical level. She is an officer extremely prepared to command the largest police troop in the country”, said Tarcísio in a statement released by the State government.
The appointment was presented as a historic milestone for the Military Police, in addition to being seen as an advance in expanding the female presence in leadership positions in São Paulo.
The colonel will succeed Colonel José Augusto Coutinho, who has been in charge of the institution since May 2025.
