Police investigate bomb threat at Pope Leo’s brother’s home near Chicago

Police on Thursday investigated a bomb threat at the Chicago-area home of Pope Leo’s brother, John Prevost, after a search found no explosives or dangerous materials.

On Wednesday night, a bomb threat was reported at John Prevost’s home in New Lenox, Illinois, according to news outlets. Prevost lives on the same street cited ‌by police as the location of the attack. New Lenox police did not return a call seeking comment.

The bomb threat follows President Donald Trump’s attacks on Sunday on Pope Leo the 14th, the first American pope, over his criticism of the war in Iran. Leo is from Chicago.

New Lenox police received a report of a bomb threat at a private residence Wednesday night and evacuated nearby homes while ‌searching the area.

“After a careful examination, investigators determined that the threat was unsubstantiated and that there were no explosive devices or hazardous materials,” police said in a statement.

The investigation is ongoing to discover the origin of the false report, he added.

Leo leads the 1.4 billion-member Church and has emerged as an outspoken critic of the war.

In assertive comments in Cameroon this Thursday, Leão criticized leaders who spend billions on wars and said that the world is ‘being devastated by a handful of tyrants’.

Although he criticized Leao for being too liberal and ‘weak on crime,’ Trump praised his brother Louis of Florida for his support of the MAGA movement. John Prevost is another of the pope’s older brothers.
