Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, announced this Friday (17) that the authorities of the Islamic Republic have decided “fully” open the Strait of Hormuz has commercial navigation for as long as the ceasefire agreed with the United States lasts.
“In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage of all merchant ships through the Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open during the remaining period of the ceasefire,” said the Foreign Minister in a message on social media, in which he indicated that the ships will follow the route “coordinated and already announced” with the Port and Maritime Organization of Iran.
Araqchi, however, did not make clear which agreement he was referring to: whether the ten-day pause signed between Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollahwhich came into effect on Thursday night (16), or on suspension of hostilities between the United States and Iran itselfwhich theoretically ends in April 22.
