A dead man, tied with chains and weights, was found late on Sunday night by a fisherman in a Roube channel, in the north, as it became known from the local authorities.
The fisherman, with the help of a magnet, retrieved the body of the crocodile, to which weights had been tied. The reptile, about one meter long, was handed over to the Animal Protection Association (LPA).
In a short video posted on social networking sites, in which the fisherman speaks, the dead crocodile can be seen wrapped in chains. According to the man, the crocodile was additionally wrapped in what looked like a sleeping bag.
“I dropped my magnet, I saw a heavy object, strange. I opened it, inside was this (s.s. the crocodile). It’s crazy,” he commented.
The investigation into the case has been undertaken by the public prosecutor’s office of Lille.
