Blake Lively cites loss of up to $40 million due to damage to her reputation

Actress Blake Lively, 38, believes that the image crisis generated by the legal fight with Justin Baldoni caused losses of up to US$40.5 million (around R$200 million) in damage to her reputation, according to TMZ.

The North American portal had access to court documents that show that the “Gossip Girl” star hired an expert to analyze the impact of social media. According to her, more than 175 million impressions were recorded that called Blake Lively a “mean girl”, “bully” and “insensitive”.

As reported by TMZ, the actress is asking for a total of US$ 161 million (around R$ 800 million) in compensation for the company of the protagonist and director of “É Assim Que Acaba”. With US$56 million (around R$275 million) in past and future profits, US$49 million (around R$245 million) referring to the loss of his hair products company and another US$22 million (around R$110 million) in liabilities for his beverage company.

The two starred together in the romance “É Assim que Acaba”, in 2024. In the same year, the actress filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, Wayfarer, the filmmaker’s distributor, and others, asking for unspecified damages for alleged harassment, defamation, invasion of privacy and violations of federal and state civil rights laws.

She complained that the defendants created a sexually charged atmosphere during the film’s production and then planned to silence her and others from speaking out about what they created.

The is scheduled to begin on May 18 in New York. Lively’s idea is to summon co-stars, such as Isabele Ferrer and Jenny Slate, as well as author Colleen Hoover, to testify.

“That’s How It Ends” starred Lively as a flower shop owner who marries a neurosurgeon played by Baldoni.

His character becomes abusive, reminding Lively’s character of her parents’ relationship, and the marriage falls apart after Lively’s character reconnects with her first love, who became a chef and restaurant owner.

Despite mixed reviews, the film grossed more than US$351 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo.
