Future Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić spoke by phone on Tuesday. Vučič announced it on the X platform, who invited Magyar to visit Serbia, reports the correspondent of TASR in Budapest. The Serbian head of state said he congratulated the future Hungarian prime minister on his election victory and then they had an “important, productive and meaningful discussion” on key issues for the further improvement of Serbian-Hungarian relations.
According to Vučić, they also discussed important energy and other topics related to the development of relations between the two countries, more secure energy supplies and stronger regional connectivity. “We exchanged views on the situation of the Serbian and Hungarian minorities in our countries, as well as on the process of Serbia’s accession to the EU. I invited Péter Magyar to visit Serbia,” added Vučič.
In this context, the telex.hu server recalled that after winning the elections on April 12, Magyar said the following day at an international press conference: “I know who stands behind the Hungarian-Slovak-Serbian friendship,” probably referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Vučić then responded: “I would call this statement stupid, but I don’t want to spoil our relationship with Hungary,” writes telex.hu.
