New rules for Minha Casa, Minha Vida come into effect this Wednesday; see what changes

According to the government, the changes should expand access to the program, totaling 87,500 families with lower interest rates

The changes were approved in March by the Board of Trustees of the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS).

As new rules for property financing through the My Home, My Life program come into effect from this Wednesday (22).

With the changes, the income limits are now:

– R$3,200 in band 1;
– R$5 thousand in band 2;
– R$9,600 in band 3;
– R$13 thousand in band 4.

The maximum value of properties was also updated – for band 3, it is now R$400 thousand and, for band 4, R$600 thousand.

The changes were approved in March by the Board of Trustees of the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS). The expansion will rely on resources from the Social Fund, with around R$31 billion allocated to the program.

According to the government, the changes should expand access to the program, totaling 87.5 thousand families with lower interest rates; 31.3 thousand new families in band 3; and 8.2 thousand families included in range 4.

The technical team estimates an impact of R$500 million in subsidies and R$3.6 billion in housing credit.
