O and Transparência Internacional are open for applications for the 2026 edition of the Javier Valdez Latin American Investigative Award.
Journalists from and across the Caribbean can submit investigative works published in Portuguese, Spanish or English from July 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026. The winner will receive a prize of US$5,000 (around R$25,000 at the current exchange rate).
Reports published in print, radio, television or digital platforms can compete. Registration can be done individually or as a team, with the indication of a representative.
The jury will evaluate the relevance of the facts revealed, the social impact and the quality of the investigation. You will also be required to send a summary with information on the methodology, results and context of the investigation.
was a Mexican journalist and founder of the periodical Ríodoce. Recognized for his coverage of drug trafficking in Sinaloa, he was murdered in May 2017.
