The pre-candidate for President of , , stated that former minister Roberto Brant will coordinate his government program.
Brant was head of the Ministry of Social Security in the government (PSDB) and a constituent deputy, in addition to having participated in the founding of the PSD.
In an interview with CNN Brasil this Wednesday (22), Caiado stated that the ally was chosen because he is not a “sliced politician, specific to one issue”.
“He is a player, as they say, who plays in all positions. If you discuss education, health, security, social program, infrastructure, he is a person who has a capacity, a vision of Brazil, in its entirety.”
Caiado said that Brant will act to not leave “a dispersed government plan”, in which there is “no way to close it”. He also stated that he has lived with the former minister for many years, in addition to being his colleague in the National Congress. In the Chamber from 1987 to 2007, Brant worked for parties such as PMDB, PTB and PFL.
In the scandal, when he was at the PFL, Brant was targeted after being named as a beneficiary of accounts belonging to businessman Marcos Valério.
At the time, he stated that it was an “electoral infraction” and that his case differed from the accusations against other parliamentarians because it involved private money. In a vote in 2006, deputies rejected removing the mandate.
After the episode, he announced that he would leave public life.
Since launching into Planalto, he intends to address public security, combating and what he calls abuses by the STF (Supreme Federal Court).
ECONOMY
This Wednesday, in the interview, the PSD presidential candidate was also asked about names to command the economy in a possible government. He responded that there is no way to advertise listed prices at the moment so as not to “cause any embarrassment” to his interlocutors in this area.
Former governor of Goiás, his pre-candidacy was made official by the PSD at the end of March. In the most recent published on the 11th, he scored 5% in the first round scenario, far behind Lula (PT), who has 39%, and Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), with 35%.
In a second round simulation, Caiado obtained 42% of voting intentions, compared to 45% for the current president, configuring a technical tie.
