PM vetoes union act in Paulista on May 1st – 04/24/2026 – Panel

The trade union central and other entities representing workers were prevented from holding an event on Avenida Paulista in

The reason, according to the corporation, is that three small Bolsonaro groups —Patriotas do HQ, A Voz da Nação and Marcha da Liberdade— had already requested authorization in advance and will hold demonstrations.

The PM states that he took this decision “taking into account it being an election year and the possibility of tension between the movements”.

According to the minutes of the meeting attended by trade unionists, representatives of right-wing movements and public, state and municipal bodies, if Conlutas fails to comply with the veto, the Shock Battalion will be called to clear the Paulista.

“This is absurd. As if the arbitrary and last-minute decision were not enough, this day is globally dedicated to the demonstrations of the International Workers’ Day of Struggle and their demands and, as such, it must be treated”, stated Luiz Carlos Prates, known as Mancha, director of Conlutas.

The center has historical links with the PSTU, a radical left party.

The Panel did not locate any representative of the Bolsonarist movements, all of which were small. The only one with an Instagram page is Patriotas do QG, with 3,976 followers. On an Instagram page, the group calls for a demonstration on the 1st, at 11 am, in front of the Fiesp building.

The agenda of the demonstration brings together support for , criticism of the STF and a request for freedom for .

The Panel sought communications advice from the SSP (Public Security Secretariat), but received no response until the publication of this text.
