Albanian tycoon Ervin Mata was arrested in Ilhabela, on the coast of São Paulo, last Saturday night (25), by the Federal Police and local Military Police. The man was reported as a fugitive, with a request for arrest for international drug trafficking.
Ervin Mata was already accused in Albania of drug trafficking and participation in a criminal organization.
In a note to CNN Brazilthe PM (military police) states that the tycoon was located after intelligence information indicated that he had moved from Baixada Santista to the North Coast.
The corporation reports that, during patrolling, the suspect was located in a store and taken to the Federal Police Station in São Sebastião.
During the action, two cell phones and documents from the previously wanted person were seized.
A CNN Brazil contacted the Federal Police to find out what the next actions would be, but have not received any response so far.
Who is tycoon Ervin Mata:
Ervin Mata has been in custody since November 2023 and was placed under precautionary arrest by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), in 2025.
The decision was taken on March 11 of that year, but was only decreed on September 23.
He was already accused in Albania of participation in a criminal organization and criminal association.
Investigations by the Albanian government indicate that he coordinated the trafficking of 240 kg of cocaine in Frankfurt, Germany, in 2020.
The tycoon reportedly earned 81 million Albanian lek (ALL), the equivalent of approximately R$5.2 million, from trafficking, and is also suspected of organizing and financing murders.
