In this year’s elections, two seats in the Upper House are up for grabs for each state and the Federal District.
The senator Damares Alves (Republicanos-DF) said on Friday (24) that it will “hoping a lot” to be with Senator Leila do Vôlei (PDT-DF) in the Senate in 2027. The statement was given in a speech in the Plenary of the Upper House during a special session to celebrate Brasília’s 66th anniversary.
“I really wish Leila was sitting in this chair next year. I’m still going to stay here for another five years, Leila, and I would really like to continue sharing this table with you (…) What an honor, Leila, to be your partner. And, I will continue to hope that, next year, we will be here together again”, declared Damares.
This Monday (27), the parliamentarian took to social media to clarify that their candidates for the Senate are the former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro and the federal deputy Bia Kicis (PL-DF). Damares stated that there was “some misunderstanding”.

In this year’s election campaign, there are two vacancies for the Senate for each of the states and the Federal District. Currently, Damares, Leila do Vôlei and senator Izalci Lucas (PL-DF) occupy the three DF seats in the Upper House.
Leila and Izalci’s terms end this year. Damares remains in the Senate for another four years.

Izalci has now launched . However, the name supported by Michelle and Bia Kicis for the Buriti Palace is that of the current governor Celina Leão (PP).
