TSE casts mandate of governor of RR

President of the TSE scheduled resumption for Thursday (April 30, 2026) after André Mendonça signaled that he could adjust his vote

The president of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), Cármen Lúcia, postponed this Tuesday (April 28, 2026) the trial that could revoke the ticket formed by (PP) and Edilson Damião (Republicans) in the 2022 elections for the government of Roraima.

The decision was made after the Court reached . The trial will resume on Thursday (April 30, 2026), after André Mendonça signals that he can supplement or adjust his vote before the result is announced.

Mendonça had already voted to maintain the revocation of the ticket. This Tuesday, Estela Aranha, Antonio Carlos Ferreira, Floriano de Azevedo Marques and Cármen Lúcia also voted for the impeachment.

The score was in 6 a 1 for the revocation of the ticket when the trial was suspended. So far, Minister Nunes Marques has been defeated, who voted to maintain Denarium’s conviction, but preserve Damião in office.

The case analyzes an appeal against the decision of the TRE-RR (Regional Electoral Court of Roraima), which revoked Denarium and Damião for abuse of political and economic power in the 2022 elections. The discussion in the TSE involves the possibility of separating the effects of the conviction between the head of the ticket and the vice-governor. The majority of the Court rejected this thesis and maintained the understanding that, in majority elections, the ticket is single and indivisible.

Cármen Lúcia stated that the mobilization of public resources and social programs was serious enough to compromise the normality of the election in Roraima. The minister also rejected keeping Damião in office.

With the postponement, the TSE has not yet announced the result. The Court must define in the next session the effects of the decision and whether a new election will be called.
