Moment between president and 1st lady occurred during the British royal couple’s official visit to the USA
The President of the United States, (Republican Party), was seen “patting” his wife, the 1st lady Melania Trump, on the butt. The gesture took place on Tuesday (April 28, 2026) during the couple’s meeting with King Charles III, of the United Kingdom, and Queen consort Camilla Shand.
The British royal couple arrived in the USA on Monday (April 27, 2026) for a 4-day official visit celebrating the 250th anniversary of the North American country’s independence. The schedule included a private meeting with Trump and a in Congress.
In his speech, Charles said that ties between the US and the UK are “unbreakable and irreplaceable”although he acknowledged the existence of disagreements.
According to the king Britishthe partnership between the USA and the United Kingdom was born from the dispute, “but that doesn’t make it any less strong”. Charles said that both countries have a mentality that is, by nature, “a product of the common democratic, legal and social traditions in which our governance is rooted to this day”.
The event marked the second time that a British monarch gave a speech to the North American Congress. The first and last time was done by Charles III’s mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in 1991, during the government of George H. W. Bush. At the time, the speech celebrated the US victory in the Gulf War.
