The Russian drone attack in the Sumy region has tragic consequences: a 60-year-old woman was killed

Drone attacks, which according to local authorities aimed directly at residential buildings, caused large-scale fires. A 60-year-old resident died of carbon monoxide poisoning, while dozens of others had to be evacuated.

One woman was killed in a Russian drone attack in the border region of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine, local military officials announced on Wednesday. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.

  • A Russian drone hit the border town of Sumi in the northeastern part of Ukraine.
  • A 60-year-old woman who was poisoned by carbon monoxide died in the attack in the Suma region.
  • The attack targeted residential buildings and caused extensive fires.

The woman was poisoned by carbon monoxide

The attacks, which “were aimed at residential buildings”, caused large-scale fires and “a 60-year-old resident of one of them died of carbon monoxide poisoning”, the commander of the military administration there, Oleg Grygorov, said on the Telegram platform. He added that the authorities evacuated the residents of the building and two of them received medical attention.

Since the beginning of the invasion in February 2022, Russia has been regularly bombing Ukraine, especially key infrastructure objects. Kiev has responded by attacking targets in Russia, but insists it is targeting military facilities and energy facilities to limit Moscow’s ability to fund its war effort. The US-mediated peace negotiations to end Russian aggression have been suspended – Washington is currently focusing its attention mainly on the war in Iran.
