Police authorities found, this Friday, a corpse in the Ria Formosa, in Faro, after an alert from members of the public who were in the area.
The captain of the port of Faro, Vítor Conceição Dias, told the Lusa agency that the The presence of the body was reported at 10:20having been found in the baião estuary, in the Ria Formosa, near the bridge that gives access to the island of Faro.
The same source said it was not possible to provide, at the moment, more information about the victim or the circumstances in which the body was found and recovered, leaving clarifications for later.
Civil Protection deployed 18 operatives with eight vehicles to the location, but a source from the Algarve Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command declined to provide further details, referring explanations to the Maritime Police.
The body will be transferred to the Faro medical-legal office and the investigation will be carried out by the Judiciary Police, who were also called to the scene.
