Praia da Falésia, in the Algarve, was considered the best beach in Europe for the summer of 2026. The distinction is the result of a study that analyzed several popular destinations, taking into account factors such as online reviews, travel time from the airport and accommodation costs.
Located between Albufeira and Vilamoura, Praia da Falésia is one of the best-known images of the Algarve, thanks to its reddish-toned cliffs, the extensive stretch of sand and the blue sea.
The study referred to is by hoppa, an airport transfer company, according to the British portal. The beach was ahead of well-known destinations in Spain, Greece and France, in a selection made by the airport transfer company hoppa.
Algarve beach leads European ranking
According to the study, Praia da Falésia stood out among dozens of beaches analyzed in several European countries.
The evaluation took into account the average cost of three-star hotels, the travel time between the airport and the beach and the ratings given by users on Google.
With these criteria, the Portuguese beach reached first place on the list, being identified as one of the best choices for summer holidays in 2026.
Eight kilometers of sand and cliffs
Falésia Beach stretches for around eight kilometers, offering enough space for long walks along the seafront.
One of its main attractions are the cliffs in shades of orange, red and white, which create a striking contrast with the light sand and the blue of the ocean.
This landscape makes the beach especially sought after by tourists, but also by residents who value large bathing areas with good accessibility.
Visitors highlight natural beauty
In online reviews, many visitors praise the size of the beach, the beauty of the cliffs and the quality of the landscape.
The length of the beach is seen as an advantage, as it makes it possible to better distribute bathers, even during periods of greater demand.
The beach is often described as suitable for families, couples and travelers looking for a striking natural setting in which to rest.
Security and services available
Falésia Beach is also valued for the presence of surveillance during the bathing season and the existence of support services.
In some areas, it is possible to rent sun loungers and umbrellas, which increases the comfort of those who spend the day at the beach.
The large expanse of the beach allows you to find busier areas and others that are quieter, depending on the access point chosen.
Algarve once again stands out in tourism
The distinction reinforces the Algarve’s international projection as a beach destination.
The region continues to be one of the most sought after by European tourists, especially during the summer months, due to the combination of climate, coastline, gastronomy and hotel offerings.
The entry of Praia da Falésia at the top of the European ranking contributes to consolidating the Algarve’s image as one of the main beach destinations on the continent.
Other beaches in the ranking
In addition to Falésia Beach, the list includes Platja de Muro, in Mallorca, Spain, and Myrtos Beach, on the Greek island of Kefalonia.
Also among the best classified are the Promenade des Anglais, in Nice, France, and Playa de Poniente, in Benidorm, Spain.
Still, for 2026, it was a Portuguese beach that took first place in Europe, putting the Algarve back on the map for summer holidays.
