The veto was the result of a political articulation between , and . The three and their groups feared that Messiah would support the investigations. Mendonça supported Messias.
It only seems confusing if you haven’t yet understood the Master Bank’s political connections PowerPoint. The summary is in. There are a lot of people on the right, the people from and involved with Vorcaro, and a much smaller group on the left.
From this data, last week’s events make perfect sense. Lula, who has nothing to lose from the investigations (despite the one in Bahia), appointed an anti-pizza minister. The right wing joined forces with the STF and blocked Messias.
The day after Messias was vetoed, Alcolumbre and his group reduced Bolsonaro’s sentence and killed Master’s CPI. Everything stayed at home.
The secret to understanding what happened on Wednesday is the crossing of two graphs: the Master’s PowerPoint and the family tree of the group that blocked Messias.
Flávio Bolsonaro is the son of the politician whose brother-in-law Vorcaro was the biggest donor to his electoral campaign. Alexandre de Moraes’ wife had a very suspicious million-dollar contract with Banco Master. Davi Alcolumbre appointed the head of Amapá’s state pension system, which placed R$400 million from the state’s retirees in Banco Master investments that are now worthless. It was the second largest contribution of money from retirees to Master, after the R$ 1 billion contributed by the Bolsonarista (-RJ).
By the way, according to some reports, Messias’ allies accuse him of betrayal in the negotiations that preceded the veto. If true, the hypothesis “Master’s Gang overthrew Messiah” becomes even more likely: Jaques Wagner is the only politically active PT member who has relatives who received money from the Master ecosystem (his daughter-in-law).
Some friends told me that the atmosphere in Brasília on Wednesday was reminiscent of the months before Dilma. It makes sense: ten years ago, the right also carried out barbarities in Congress to force the government to block a major corruption investigation.
Journalist Ana Clara Costa, from Piauí magazine, also found that the Alcolumbre-Xandão-Bolsonaro agreement would open up the possibility of a big win in the event of a Bolsonaro victory in October.
Alcolumbre would leave the vacancy in the STF open to be filled by the next president. If Flávio wins the election, this additional nomination would give him, at the end of his first term, a majority in the STF: in the next four years, three vacancies will be opened due to the compulsory retirements of ministers (Fux, Cármen and Gilmar). With four nominations, plus the two ministers nominated by Jair (Mendonça and Kassio), the extreme right would gain a majority in the STF. In exchange, Flávio would support Alcolumbre’s reelection to the presidency in 2027. From there, Davi would block impeachment requests against the current STF ministers.
In other words: in the conflict between Bolsonaro supporters and the STF, Banco Master is the third way that has overcome polarization. He is the true moderate Bolsonarist. And this broad front has a great chance of winning in October.
