Artificial Intelligence is conquering more and more Portuguese people, mbut the impact on employment continues to raise doubts. A new study helps to understand what is changing.
For a long time, the future was imagined with visible changes. Like flying cars and suspended cities, mbut the transformation that is underway is more discreet.
A new study from the European Commission reveals that the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing. You Portuguese people use this new tool both in work and leisure. But two in five workers who use AI at work admit they are afraid of losing their job.
“I would say that they should be alert, not necessarily worried, but aware of the period of transformation we are experiencing. The data we have does not indicate a rupture, nor the more negative scenarios that focus on the replacement of jobs by machines”, argues Nuno Ferro, from the company ManpowerGroup, que follows this evolution at a global level.
Through research, the seeks to understand how workers and companies are adapting. The results of the last search show a difference in the way we look at the present and the future.
“There is a misalignment here between two confidence indicators. On the one hand, 89% say they have a lot of confidence in their current capabilities to carry out their duties. But when they are asked how they project their skills for future challenges, only 64% say they could be sufficient”, he adds.
The main concern is, Therefore, in the adaptation and “This typically involves more training, (…) ongoing knowledge strategies”.
The final impact will depend less on the technology itself and more about the way it is integrated into work and society.
