A Secret Service agent on the roof of the White House
Trump was participating in an event with businesspeople when a gunman was shot nearby. Another person, a teenager, was assisted.
The White House was isolated by authorities this Monday, while President Donald Trump participated in an event with businesspeople, after police forces had shot an individual in the capital, reported the US Secret Service.
According to the police force, responsible for protecting the President and other authorities, a person was shot by law enforcement agents near the Washington Monument, in the center of the capital.
The person’s condition and the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately released. The Secret Service recommended that people avoid the area, while emergency teams responded to the incident, when Trump was participating in an event for small businesses at the White House.
The presidential residence was briefly sealed off while authorities investigated the incident and the Secret Service ushered journalists outside into the press room. Trump continued the event without interruption.
Vito Maggiolo, spokesman for the Washington Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services, said emergency crews transported an adult man to the hospital and were treating a teenager with minor injuries.
On April 26, one occurred during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, in a Washington hotel, which led to the President’s withdrawal.
The incident occurs almost two years after the attack carried out by , who shot Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump was hit in the ear, one spectator died and two were seriously injured; the shooter was killed by the Secret Service and the FBI treated the case as an attempted murder.
