Corinthians Council approves Stabile’s re-election and vetoes SAF

The body voted on Monday (May 4) to reform the statute at a meeting in Parque São Jorge with the participation of 76 councilors

The Deliberative Council of the club voted on Monday (May 4, 2026) to reform the club’s statute, in a meeting held at Parque São Jorge. The councilors approved the possibility of President Osmar Stabile running for re-election in the election scheduled for the end of 2026 and rejected two proposals related to the transformation of the football department into SAF (Sociedade Anônima do Futebol).

The option of maintaining the statute as it is received 40 votes, against 26 for the proposal that designed mechanisms to guarantee the club’s control over the SAF, such as a veto on strategic decisions and restrictions on the sale of control. A 3rd alternative, which established a minimum participation of 10% of the club, received 10 votes. In total, 76 of the 81 councilors present participated in the vote.

The councilors also approved the reduction in the size of the Deliberative Council, from 300 to 200 members. The winning proposal received 52 votes and establishes a new composition with 50 for life and 150 for three years. Maintaining the current model received 15 votes, and the intermediate proposal, with 225 names, received 9 votes.

The possibility of de Stabile was approved by 46 votes in favor and 30 against. The individual electoral system for the Deliberative Council won with 45 votes, while the proportional slate model had 7, and the maintenance of the current format, 24. The presidential election in 2 rounds was approved with 62 votes, against 14 in favor of the single round.

The Council also approved unlimited re-election for its members (47 votes, against 25 in favor of the 2-term limit) and set a 3-year grace period to vote (41 votes, against 32 who supported 4 years).

Among other changes, the counselors decided that all members of the Ethics Council will be elected by the General Assembly (50 votes) and that the board will have to pay for the Deliberative Council’s budget (43 votes). The quarterly publication of balance sheets was also approved (55 votes).

The new format of Cori (Guidance Council) will limit participation to five former presidents of the board and five of the Deliberative Council (57 votes). The board also rejected the creation of the position of manager of Parque São Jorge, by 41 votes to 31. The decisions will be submitted to the partners at the General Assembly, which will be called in the coming days. The changes only come into force after this stage.
